What is "Practice Talking"?

If you want to practice taking interviews - this is the place to do it.  We match you up with others who want to do the same.

Each week we send you the name of an interview partner with whom to do a practice interview.  (If you want to do more than one per week, we do our best to accommodate you.)

How much does it cost?

Practice Talking is inexpensive and cost-effective.  Practicing with professionals can run well beyond $100 per hour, and you'll only do one interview during the session.  Practice Talking is FREE during our introduction and you'll be set up with many interviews.  You'll also get the benefit of hearing and learning from the interviews of your partners.  If you continue on for additional months, the price is significantly less.

How long does it take to get an interview?

Practice Talking matches people together once per week on Sunday from approximately midnight to 2 am PST.  When you sign up, we'll send you a partner to get started and you'll be scheduled again during the forthcoming Sunday.  We do matching this way to allow us to mix up the names and give you a full week to schedule the interview with the other person(s).

What if my partner and I can't schedule a time together?

The ideal situation is to make a schedule work, just like for a real interview.  However, when such cases arise that a one hour interview appointment cannot be made, we can attempt to give you another name for the week, but there are no guarantees.  While we wish we can make such guarantees, we are not in charge of people's schedules and can only hope that the common need shared between users will drive the effort to work out a practice time.

Can I use an Internet-based phone?

We strongly recommend that you use a clear and stable telephone line to maximize your interview experience. Some internet phone services suffer from sound consistency problems.  If you are aware of such problems and do not have alternate means available, please mention and make sure this is OK with your assigned partner.
